Annual Conference
GIS/SIG 18th Annual Spatial/Digital Mapping Conference Tuesday April 14, 2009 Burgundy Basin Inn 1361 Marsh Road Pittsford, New York 14534 ______________________________________
The World’s construction industry is facing serious challenges including global climate change, aging infrastructure, a shrinking workforce, and lagging productivity. To enable architects, engineers, construction companies, and owners and operators of buildings and infrastructure to address these challenges, the IT industry has developed new technologies including Building Information Modeling (BIM), geospatial-enabling, Web 2.0, and 3D simulation. These new technologies provide the foundation for convergence, the integration of architectural and engineering design, geospatial, and 3D technologies which enables a seamless view of buildings and infrastructure. The business drivers for this transformative technology advance are productivity and efficiency in the construction and facilities management industry, and improving the performance of facilities over their full life-cycle. ______________________________________ "Geospatial Mercenaries: The Balkans and Beyond (Points East)" Afternoon Keynote Address Presented by Jonathan Cobb, Waypoint Technology Group, LLC Austin Fisher, Vice President, Fountains Spatial, Inc. In November of 2007, Fountains Spatial and Waypoint Technology Group were contracted to provide GIS and GPS training in the former Serbian province of Kosovo. This presentation will cover the background behind this project, work performed, challenges encountered, and experiences gained. Plenty of slides will be shown, along with a limited amount of instruction on the local language, Albanian, and its distant cousin, Mandarin. Attendees will also gain exposure to a variety of geospatial tools that can be used to add a new dimension to your travel experience. ______________________________________ Don't miss "Geojeopardy” during lunch! Lunch at the GIS/SIG conference will again feature "Geojeopardy". If you would like to submit an image for "Geojeopardy", please send your image and related question to gis-sig@gis-sig.org. If your company would like to sponsor or exhibit at this conference, please contact Jeff Volpe at jvolpe@bergmannpc.com. ______________________________________ ______________________________________ Conference Agenda Registration Form Job Table Guidelines Directions to the Burgundy Basin Inn Burgundy Basin Inn Site Plan Accommodations: Brookwood Inn Mention the Burgundy Basin Inn when you reserve your room for a $5.00 discount, and be sure to ask about their free shuttle to the Burgundy Basin Inn. __________________________________________________________ Previous Annual Conference GIS/SIG 17th Annual Spatial/Digital Mapping Conference April 22, 2008 Burgundy Basin Inn 1361 Marsh Road Pittsford, New York 14534 “There's Nothing New Under the Sun...
