"The Convergence of BIM, CAD, GIS,
and 3D Simulation:
Implications for Government"

Morning Keynote Address Presented by
Geoff Zeiss
Director,
Autodesk Geospatial Technology
autodesk

The World’s construction industry is facing serious challenges including global climate change, aging infrastructure, a shrinking workforce, and lagging productivity.   To enable architects, engineers, construction companies, and owners and operators of buildings and infrastructure to address these challenges, the IT industry has developed new technologies including Building Information Modeling (BIM), geospatial-enabling, Web 2.0, and 3D simulation.  These new technologies provide the foundation for convergence, the integration of architectural and engineering design, geospatial, and 3D technologies which enables a seamless view of buildings and infrastructure.  The business drivers for this transformative technology advance are productivity and efficiency in the construction and facilities management industry, and improving the performance of facilities over their full life-cycle.

"Geospatial Mercenaries: The Balkans and Beyond (Points East)"

Afternoon Keynote Address
Presented by

Jonathan Cobb, Waypoint Technology Group, LLC
Austin Fisher, Vice President, Fountains Spatial, Inc.

In November of 2007, Fountains Spatial and Waypoint Technology Group were contracted to provide GIS and GPS training in the former Serbian province of Kosovo. This presentation will cover the background behind this project, work performed, challenges encountered, and experiences gained.   Plenty of slides will be shown, along with a limited amount of instruction on the local language, Albanian, and its distant cousin, Mandarin.  Attendees will also gain exposure to a variety of geospatial tools that can be used to add a new dimension to your travel experience.
